Poetry in the Form of Alternative Photography

As a Photography Major in college, I took many photo classes and discovered that my most powerful pieces were the the ones that spoke to my soul.  These pieces usually incorporated elements of my poetry and they illustrated who I was as a person.  I mainly do art for myself, and not so much for others, so I think my friend was right on when he said I was an “artist” and not a “designer.”

The following pieces were part of a project I did in Alternative Photography (if I remember correctly)

Cee’s Black & White Photo Challenge: Glass

I came across moj punkt patrzenia’s post today and it reminded me of some old photos that I took that I wanted to share with you =)

These photos were taken in 2009 at the de Young Museum with my 35 mm camera.  If I remember correctly, no Photoshop was used.  Now, all of a sudden, I’m tempted to dig up my old camera and film canisters and take some old-school, authentic b&w photos.

Imagine the Light (Entire Book Revealed)

To complete my BA in photography back in 2008, I was required to make a book of my images along with an artist statement.  It took me a while to figure out which images I wanted to focus on, but after reviewing my previous work, I decided that what I deemed to be my “poetic photography” pieces were the strongest ones.  When I combined my love for poetry and photography, I was able to convey meaning and emotion into my pieces.  Below is the digital version of my little book.  I will start off with the first few pages and edit this post each week to include a few more pages.  The complete book will be revealed by mid April.
