Similar to my previous post Poems for Manet, here is a haiku based on a painting by Claude Monet.
The Pond at Montgeron
Reflection of leaves
on clear, shimmering water,
oil on canvas.

I came across the Sunday Stills challenge for the letter T this week and I was excited to be able to post this turtle photo that I shot back at the Garden of the Groves in the Grand Bahamas back in April. I hope you enjoy this photo and experience the carefree, playfulness of it.
Swimming playfully,
turtles splashing in the pond,
bonding with siblings
I’ve been having a slight writer’s block lately and can’t seem to be inspired to write poetry. I decided to try something different and pulled out my book on Impressionists, hoping it would inspire me somehow. Looking at these beautiful paintings did trigger me to think, feel and sense various emotions. These two haiku are based on my reactions to paintings by Edouard Manet.
The Railway
Behind railway bars,
the little aristocrat
dreams to be free.

Plum Brandy
The ice cream’s melting,
wealthy youth stares at nothing,
life drip-drips away.

Late afternoon
large shadows on the walkway
hot summer day
